Bonjour à vous tous.

J’ai oublié de vous dire que l’ “Acadian Cultural Society” (http://www.acadiancultural.org/about.html) une organisation à but non lucratif basée à Fitchburg, dans le Massachusetts fermeras ses portes à la fin juin après 25 ans de service aux Acadiens qui ayant migré vers cette zone des États-Unis dans la dernière partie du XIXe siècle et la partie au début du XXe siècle. Comme les descendants d’un groupe ethnique particulier, il voulait aider les gens à identifier leurs ancêtres et à promouvoir l’ histoire et la culture acadienne.

Cette organisation s’était donnée comme objectif de recueillir et de conserver une collection de ressources historiques et généalogiques, en les plaçant dans les soins de la bibliothèque publique la ville de Fitchburg (leur base d'accueil), où ils pourraient être consultés par ceux intéressés par leurs racines ou leur patrimoine.

Quoiqu’il existera toujours une collection acadienne à la bibliothèque de Fitchburg, plusieurs ressources seront redistribuées à travers d’autres organisations et institutions de l’état.

Je suis certain que la fermeture de l’ “Acadian Cultural Society” sera une grosse perte pour tous nos cousins de la Nouvelle-Angleterre.

Good day to you all.

I forgot to tell you that the "Acadian Cultural Society" (http://www.acadiancultural.org/about.html), a non-profit organization based in Fitchburg, Massachusetts will close its doors at the end of June after 25 years of service to the Acadians who migrated to this area of the United States in the latter part of the 19th century and the party early in the 20th century. As descendants of a particular ethnic group, they wanted to help people identify their ancestors and to promote the Acadian culture and history.

The organization’s objective was to gather and maintain a collection of historical and genealogical resources, placing them in the care of the City of Fitchburg public library (their home base) where they could be consulted by those interested in their roots or heritage.

Although there will always be an Acadian collection at the library of Fitchburg some resources will be redistributed to other organizations and institutions of the State.

I am sure that the "Acadian Cultural Society" will be missed by all of our New England cousins.
